Mindfulness-based stress reduction offers participants enough time to internalize self-regulation principles through mindfulness and acquire skills and autonomy essential for mindful practices. The program is designed to cover 26 hours of session time, including eight classes that last for two and a half hours each and other all-day classes. The circumstances of some people don't allow them to participate in the standard form, and there are customized classes with abbreviated class time. During subsequent clinical trials, it was established that the size and number of in-class hours were non-significant. Ideally, adaptations that include less class time could be ideal for some groups.
