Whether you're on a journey of self-discovery or navigating healing. We're here to walk alongside you, every step of the way. Here is a little information about our five exceptional therapists: Christy Vaughn, LPC - Hello, I'm Christy Vaughn, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia. I hold a Bachelor’s in B.S from Bluefield University and a M.A in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. My focus is on creating a safe, compassionate space where you can feel heard and supported. I work with both adolescents and adults, helping with challenges such as trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. My approach is person-centered, tailored to meet your unique needs. I’m also lucky to have my co-therapist, Sully, a sweet and sassy dog, who brings a gentle, calming presence to our sessions. I’ve called North Roanoke home for 30 years and cherish my family, which includes my husband, our adult children, and grandchildren. I look forward to joining you on your journey toward healing. Kim Shah, LPC - I hold a Bachelor’s in Psychology from James Madison University and a Master’s in Counseling from Old Dominion University. As a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia since 2016, I’ve worked in both outpatient and hospital settings, with a focus on supporting adolescents and families. I specialize in mood disorders, parenting issues, and family dynamics, and I’m passionate about helping each client grow into the best version of themselves. My goal is to walk alongside you, providing the support you need on your unique path. I’ve lived in the Roanoke area my whole life, where I enjoy life with my husband and two children. Nora Tate, LPC - Do you ever feel "stuck" or held back by past experiences or emotions? Are you struggling to make decisions or move forward? If so, I’d love to help. With a B.S. in Psychology and an M.S.Ed. in Counseling from Old Dominion University, I’ve been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2008, specializing in trauma, mood disorders, relationships, and more. I use EMDR for trauma, Gottman Method for couples, and DBT for emotional struggles. I also support those navigating spiritual or men’s issues and offer guidance to families supporting loved ones with mental health challenges. Let’s work together to help you reach your goals. Johnna Wilson, MA - My journey to counseling began 15 years ago in child and family services, working with parents through adoption. This experience deepened my commitment to helping individuals and families. My training has focused on childhood trauma, attachment, grief, and loss, all of which affect emotional and mental health into adulthood. I’m currently a resident in counseling, working toward licensure, and I’m accepting teens and adults. I’ve worked with people facing trauma, grief, anxiety, and relationship challenges that often lead them to question their purpose, faith, and connections. While we can’t change the past, we can start from where we are and work toward healing and growth. Christina Dormstetter-O’Keefe, LPC - I work with adolescents and adults, helping them improve their ability to enjoy life. I specialize in managing anxiety, stress, depression, and chronic conditions like cancer. I believe it’s important for each person to recognize their strengths and value, beyond societal pressures. I’m passionate about helping people discover their true selves and create personalized plans to achieve their goals. My approach focuses on solutions, coping skills, and managing life’s challenges, especially stress, anxiety, and interpersonal issues. I also support those in the LGBTQ community, helping them live authentically and find healthy support systems. Many of our clients could be struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, life transitions, mid-life concerns, stress, anger management, attention issues, and relationship challenges. Our evidence-based counseling methods are designed not just to manage these struggles, but to help you thrive as we work together to overcome obstacles. Each member of our counseling team is professionally trained, licensed or licensed eligible, and committed to bringing their individual expertise and compassion to support your journey.
