I tell everyone they need counseling. Some have that trusted friend that they can turn to, others have Facebook (not highly recommended), and then there are those that need someone with some training. I, like many, have been in that situation before and I am not ashamed to say it. As I sat in the chair of my counseling session many years ago, I was complaining about how I disliked my job and my counselor said "well you have options" and it was in that moment that I realized that I needed a job change. It was out of that session that NYA Counseling was born. I went to school and obtained my Masters in Counseling from Spring Arbor University. So you may be asking why NYA? Because I am “Not Your Average” Counselor. I am someone who has lived an interesting life with its own set of trials and tribulations in which I have come through on the other side. When you think male therapist I am not generally what comes to mind. I am tatted up with two full sleeves and have been around the block a time or two, not reading about life in a book. I have a passion for helping people, but will not pull any punches either. I do not possess your answers, but I would be honored to help you find the answers you seek and help you get to the place and person you want to be.
