I'm a Spanish speaking, queer, Salvadorian first-gen millennial who is passionate about de-stigmatizing mental health. My lens is intersectional, and I am especially interested in the impact that cultural barriers, ethnic and racial identity, sexual orientation, the gender binary, and intergenerational trauma have on the mental health of first-gen BIPOC millennials. My tag line is “therapy for people who don’t believe their problems are big enough for therapy“, and I say this because some people believe that one should only seek therapy when enduring severe symptoms, during times of high stress or grief and loss. But, what if you allowed yourself space to seek support during times of deep existential questioning too? who am I? where am I going in life? what has happened to me? and why am I feeling this way? are all excellent questions to explore in therapy. My work is intersectional and is guided by a sense of compassion + curiosity + cultural humility + social justice. I am oriented by Humanistic, Psychodynamic and Liberation psychologies. I teach my clients be in the moment, practice non judgement and to explore their stories with curiosity using Mindfulness. If we decide to work together I will give you a place to express yourself, I may offer you a different perspective, challenge you and I may suggest alternatives, but you will always be in the driver’s seat. I will provide an honest, safe, compassionate and confidential space for you to: - Reconnect with and empower your authentic self - Understand of how your past, and your family’s and the world’s history impact the here and now - Build a strong foundation for healthy relationships with yourself and others - Increase self-esteem, self-worth and self confidence - Clarify your values, meaning and purpose in life - Explore all areas of your identity I am a Queer and Trans affirming therapist. I hold space in my practice for queer individuals and couples, including all sexual orientations, genders, and family/relationship structures.
