I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-S and Registered Play Therapist-S. My education and experience focus on work with children, adolescents, and families. Specific areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, social skill building, coping with learning and/or behavioral challenges, and providing support during times of transition. I am honored to have spent over 15 years counseling children and families. My approach is prescriptive and relies on identifying the needs of your child/family to best design an environment and/or interventions appropriate for them. Most often, I apply client centered, Adlerian, and cognitive behavioral theories to my work. I believe in a child’s capacity to self-direct toward change and I see myself as a facilitator and advocate for them and their team--families, schools, and anyone else involved in their care-- as they navigate that process. I believe in the healing power of relationships and recognize that they are often hard for both parents and children. I identify strongly with the principles of positive discipline and incorporate them in my work with parents and schools. I enjoy service and advocacy for the counseling profession and I'm excited to partner with Great Day Louisiana to provide monthly parenting tips. In addition to my clinical work, I am an Assistant Professor in the Counseling Department at LSU Health.
