Please note that I currently have a waitlist for ongoing therapy, but am available for half-day, full-day, and multi-day intensives. Please call or email to inquire about working with me. There is nothing wrong with you. Everything you think, believe, and do makes sense within the context of your story and your body already knows the truth of how to get through the challenges you're facing. Really. It also holds the pain and uncertainty brought on by your experiences. The things you have experienced in your life have likely affected you and your day-to-day behaviors in ways that- when you come to understand them- you can decide what you'd like to change, and then heal the roots of your problems. I believe you have everything you need inside you and that with the right therapeutic relationship, you can address your challenges and heal the parts of you where fear, anger, sadness, and other emotions might be helping you stay stuck. I see my job as being to hold your hand and walk with you as you come to understand that exploring and interacting with your experiences and stories in new ways will help you create change your life and in the world. I'm a certified experiential therapist, which means your therapy sessions will involve less talking about your problems than might happen in talk therapy, and a whole lot of creative activities that quickly show your brain that it can trust what your heart knows so that you can embody the life you're longing to live. I am trained in the treatment of trauma and have experience working with combat veterans and abuse survivors with severe PTSD, mood disorders, and substance abuse. Together we can process your past experiences so you can build resilience and move through your life the way you want to. Psychodrama (recognized by Dr. Bessel Van der Kolk, author of "The Body Keeps the Score" as a top treatment for trauma), sociometry, sandtray, writing, movement, expressive arts, and mindfulness based practices in therapy are just some of the tools we will use in our work together. We will also integrate concepts from lifestyle medicine to help ensure you are working with a truly holistic approach to healing your mind, body, and spirit. Academically and professionally: I hold a Master of Social Work and a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Family Studies, both from Utah Valley University. My training in lifestyle medicine is via the Institute for Lifestyle Medicine at Harvard Medical School. I am a member of the American Society of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama, International Society of Experiential Professionals, American College of Lifestyle Medicine, National Association of Social Workers, and National Council on Family Relations.
