I’m AJ Frithiof (pronounced Fritch-off) and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Oregon and Utah and founder of Pour Over Counseling. I use an attachment-based, trauma-responsive approach and have extensive training and experience in these perspectives. I believe we heal through attuned and connected relationships and that we must uproot the core of our pain and bring it into the light. We also need to get in touch with our bodies to heal our minds because they’re connected. I do this work with you through somatic awareness, mindfulness, emotionally focused therapy (EFT), Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY), and HeartMath. I use Brainspotting (a neurotherapy akin to EMDR) to help uproot and heal deeply held emotional injuries. I have extensive experience with the 12-steps and have also trained in and facilitated SMART recovery and The Seven Challenges to address addiction. I specialize in working with adults (18 and up) affected by developmental trauma, adoption/relinquishment difficulties, attachment/relational ruptures, substance abuse/addiction, and dual diagnoses. I also work with other types of trauma, grief and loss, mood disorders, and support parents of adolescents and young adults. My clients’ symptoms tend to manifest as emotional dysregulation, anxiety, perfectionism, numbing, sadness, loneliness, overwhelm, and depression.
