I'm a native North Carolinian and New Yorker at heart. I tend to work well with seekers: those who are a little restless, who tend to overanalyze, who are searching for meaning in life (or the meaning of life), who are both catapulted and hampered by a desire for evermore understanding and experiencing. I could talk endlessly about the human experience - with you, or in my personal life. Therapeutic work is the bread and butter of what fascinates me in this world. My hope is that you'll feel that in our sessions. I'm kind but direct, warm and energetic. You can expect our work to be deep, vulnerable and comforting at times - and vibrant, enthusiastic and challenging at others. I like to laugh and think it's critical to therapy to push, gently and artfully, you out of your own way. I don't shy away from humor or encouraging you to look clearly at yourself in the proverbial mirror. I'm the kind of therapist who's motivated to get you to where you want to be, not stuck in a cycle of endless describing. I am likely a good match for you if you relate to one or more of these statements: I want to work on relationships in my life, whether they're romantic, friendly, family or anywhere in between. I love to analyze myself. I'm into self-determination and improving myself, but have recently run into a roadblock. I'm trying to understand why I keep getting caught in the same patterns. I can't get out of cyclical, unresolved arguments in one of my relationships. I'm creative by nature. I've just made the huge transition of becoming a parent. I'm exhausted by my own anxiety. I think parts of me are holding me back from feeling how I want to feel, or living how I want to live. I've had therapists in the past who didn't challenge me, and I want to work with someone who does. You'll get a great sense of how comfortable you feel with me through a free initial phone consultation.
