My name is Alessa Smyth and I am a therapist practicing in Central Texas. I have over 10 years of experience working with clients who struggle with mental health issues. The decision to seek professional help can be a difficult one, and I am glad you had the courage to do so. Through empathy and compassion, I create a safe space where clients can feel comfortable sharing their innermost selves. That ability to be vulnerable allows for healing, which is the catalyst towards creating real and lasting change in your life. I use evidence-based, multidisciplinary practices and provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE I am from Texas, and lived in Utah and Ohio before moving back to my home state. I attended Texas State University and received my Master of Arts in Psychology in 2013. My clinical career has included inpatient and outpatient settings, treating adults and adolescents struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues. Now in private practice, I am helping adolescents (14+), college students, adults, and older adults, with narcissistic abuse, relationship issues, pregnancy/postpartum issues, divorce, and trauma. I am also experienced in women's issues, parenting, anxiety, depression, grief, stress, and sleep issues, including nightmares.
