Introduction

I am Alfred Thomas, Jr., a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board-Certified Hypnotherapist. My passion lies in collaborating with individuals to improve their emotional and mental well-being. In 2021, I founded Big Oak Counseling and Consulting, a virtual practice, where I utilize my expertise to assist individuals in overcoming anxiety, depression, anger management, and trauma. By offering virtual therapy services, I have exceeded my initial expectations by reaching a broader audience, which aligns with my goal of making therapy more accessible for everyone, especially within the Black community as a black male therapist. Currently, I am licensed in South Carolina, Georgia, Vermont, Idaho, and Florida, providing virtual services to residents of these states. My ideal client is someone who is open to using creative and effective tools to help alleviate symptoms of anxiety, depression, phobias, and other emotional health concerns. I integrate Motivational Interviewing and Clinical Hypnotherapy with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This combination allows us to engage both the conscious and subconscious minds, leading to positive emotional and behavioral changes. Motivational Interviewing and Hypnotherapy have been proven to be effective in improving PTSD, addiction, grief and loss, as well as facilitating trauma recovery. Additionally, Hypnotherapy serves as a valuable tool for managing chronic pain. With over 17 years of clinical experience and training, I am confident in my ability to help you develop effective strategies to address your concerns. I offer complimentary 15-minute consultations, giving you the opportunity to ask questions and determine if I am the right fit for you. I believe in fostering a healthy and transparent relationship with my clients, as it is crucial for a successful therapeutic process.
