Introduction

Hello! Thanks for reading this. I hope it's helpful to you in your process of selecting a therapist. I specialize in treating adults affected by: complex and/or developmental trauma; high-masking neurodivergence; chronic pain; oppression; anxiety; depression; and related conditions. In addition to the general public, I have accrued significant depth with persons who tend to encounter stress and trauma at rates higher than the mean, such as medical personnel and first responders, veterans, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and refugees. My orientation is strengths-based and psychodynamic. A core focus of healing and recovery is establishing a sense of authentic identity in the wake of life experiences that fundamentally undermine or distort an accurate sense of self. I use a wide range of interventions and techniques and part of the work of therapy is discovering, together, what works best for each person. My approach is intentional, deliberative, and clinically solid. A persistent theme in the feedback that I receive is that my capacity to remain rock solid and present in the face of people's stories, no matter how intense, graphic, or disturbing, is a particularly strong point. I can hold that space and provide legitimate and reliable support. I am told that people find me to be transparent, credible, and lacking in b.s. I just think that means I'm doing my job. I completed my BA in Health Arts and Sciences/Psychology at Goddard College in Plainfield, VT in 2011. I completed my MA in Counseling and Human Servies/Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with an additional Addictions Emphasis at University of Colorado Colorado Springs in 2015. During and after graduate school I have worked as an instructor, including working as a lab instructor for officers in the USAF leadership program, preparing for their first commands, and teaching advanced psychopathology and diagnosis. I love dogs, horses, nature, humans, laughter, music, art, theater, and travel. My French is currently at CEFR level B2 and I am an avid student. I am curious, open, and values-driven. I believe in science and in humanity. I am a nerd. I am neurodivergent. I'm not the right therapist for everyone. No one mental health clinician can make that claim. I tend to be a good fit for people who are willing to take a chance on the idea that a better experience of life and of self is possible—even if it seems like the odds are minuscule. People who are willing to encounter themselves and learn about how they make sense. Hope is not a requirement. I can, and often do, carry hope until a client can carry it for themselves. Humans welcome.
