Introduction

Hi. My name is Alison. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Alabama. I have over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. I have provided inpatient and outpatient services to clients with severe Mental Illness, Substance abuse, and issues related to trauma. I also have a history of working with clients via domestic violence settings (in shelters for women and children) and have spent time educating the public on issues related to Domestic Violence. I use various treatment modalities, but the one I utilize the most consists of Dialectical Behavior Therapy techniques, as it has shown to be very effective with a myriad of challenges often presented by the clients I have served. I am also very wholistic in my approach and believe in treatment of the mind, body and spirt, as all are closely interconnected to create a healthy person. I am trained in EMDR and use this frequently as a solution-focused approach to provide immediate relief from symptoms of trauma. Most of my career has been spent in residential or in-patient psychiatric hospital settings, so I am accustomed to the intense and the mundane. I would love to work with you and guide you on this journey of new discoveries, while you are healing and improving your quality of life. I look forward to meeting you and hopefully providing you with a path that will bring you joy and freedom.
