Hi! I’m Allie Hoyt, currently pursuing my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Wake Forest University. I'm passionate about creating a welcoming space where everyone feels accepted for who they are. I focus on inclusivity and have completed SafeZone training to support that mission. My key areas of interest include neurodivergence, trauma, and grief. I know how transformative it can be to have your lived experience truly seen and validated by someone who genuinely understands. My journey to counseling has been shaped by various impactful experiences. Early in my career, I had the opportunity to work closely with individuals managing chronic illnesses. In these moments, I witnessed firsthand how physical health conditions can deeply affect mental health. These experiences ignited my passion for holistic care, which is reinforced by my background in Brainspotting, a body-based modality to help individuals re-process trauma. Simultaneously, I found myself immersed in the world of collegiate athletics, working with football players navigating their sport. Beyond the physical demands of the game, I saw the immense psychological toll that injuries, performance pressure, and personal struggles could take on athletes. It was in this setting that I began to understand what it truly meant to hold space for someone in moments of trauma as well as the profound impact of unconditional support. This experience solidified my commitment to trauma-informed care. As my career progressed, I have had the privilege of working with the LGBTQIA+ community and neurodivergent individuals. In these spaces, I see the critical need for affirming, compassionate care—environments where individuals can show up as their authentic selves. I am deeply committed to creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and valued. My work with these communities has reinforced my dedication to advocacy, inclusivity, and the power of truly being present for another human being. For me, counseling is not just a career—it is a calling. Every individual I work with carries a unique story, and it is a privilege to walk alongside them in their journey.
