Introduction

In my practice, I work with individuals and couples, specializing in trauma, anxiety, loss, and relationship distress. I collaborate with adult clients using curiosity, compassion, and humor to provide a pathway to healing, greater emotional connection, and sense of well being. I utilize evidence-based, integrative therapies, including attachment-based, mindfulness, trauma-informed, and emotionally-focused approaches. I have advanced training in IFS, AEDP, and EMDR therapies which help clients heal, grow, and experience joy and connection. As a Certified EMDR therapist, I offer specialized trauma therapy to reduce traumatic symptoms and increase hope and healing. For couples, I offer Emotionally Focused Therapy, a powerful, evidence-based approach which helps couples build their trust, communication, and connection. As an EFCT therapist, I help couples identify their stuck, negative patterns of pain and disconnection and guide them to strengthen relational bonds and enhance emotional closeness. My style is calm, compassionate, and interactive. I believe that we all have an innate ability to heal and thrive. I look forward to partnering with clients on their journey toward self awareness and self empowerment. I enjoy helping clients build upon their strengths to gain hope, confidence, and skills to move forward. Seeking counseling is hard, especially finding the right therapist. It takes courage to begin the journey towards healing and connection. Over the last 25 years, I have had the privilege of working with diverse clients in a variety of settings, including addiction treatment, community mental health, crisis intervention, employee assistance, and in private practice since 2008. My office is located near downtown Charlottesville with plenty of parking. I am licensed in Virginia and Maryland.
