Do you find yourself saying things like, "I just can't win," "That's just my luck," or explaining away problems because of Murphy's Law or maybe because mercury is in retrograde again? Over time, we can become quite convinced that things cannot be changed, that we cannot heal, and our lives begin to feel like a series of unfortunate events. Things like trauma, anxiety, depression, failed relationships, and never measuring up become our constant companions. If any of this sounds vaguely familiar then I want to simply say that things can change and things can heal and I would be honored to be part of that journey with you. I know that finding the right fit with your therapist is crucial and I strive to create an environment that feels inviting, non-judgmental and safe by using a combination of authenticity and humor. My hope is to empower clients to develop a mindset best described by Maya Angelou: "I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it." I use a variety of therapeutic approaches and am trained in EMDR, IFS, and DBT which are incredibly effective for emotional dysregulation, relationship distress, and trauma. I work with youth, adolescents, and adults who have experience with anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, adolescent sexual behavior problems, and the juvenile justice system.
