I am a licensed mental health therapist and Spiritual Director with nearly 30 years’ experience in the healing professions. As a Certified Thanatologist and Death Educator, I have worked doing research on spirituality and healing, as a bereavement coordinator, mind-body therapist, chaplain, mental health counselor, Director of Religious Education, and Spiritual Director. I am both honored and privileged to bring my life and extensive work experiences combined with my education and training to my work as a therapist. Working with people who are going through a life transition is where I thrive in my work. I have dedicated my life’s work to helping others develop better ways of dealing with our human issues of loss that come with any change. In particular, I know intimately the deep experience of loss that comes with the final transition from life to death. I create a safe and supportive environment for healing and growth as I walk alongside you as you explore, experience, and express your life’s journey. Each of us is storied in a different way and there is power in listening to your story of the grit, grace, and gratitude that carried you along your path through life. Your story is both unique and universal, separate yet similar. I see therapy as both an art and science and take a whole person collaborative approach to my work as I begin exploring the values, beliefs, patterns, environment, and internalized messages impacting my clients. I have an eclectic approach using several evidence-based modalities, homework assignments, psychoeducational materials, bibliotherapy, and the use of Expressive Art to work with clients to reduce presenting symptoms and build confidence. When I am away from the office, I enjoy the arts, cultural events, road trips, traveling and exploring nature, and quiet time by the fireplace with a great book is joy. I am an avid, voracious reader. I value beauty, creativity, and knowledge in their many forms. I am a lifelong learner and stay current in my field and practice by regularly attending workshops, conferences, reading books and periodicals related to my field of study and work and by seeking consultation from other health care professionals.
