Amy Frisch, LCSWR is a licensed psychotherapist and founder of It's a Girl Thing! a group therapy practice specializing in the empowerment of teenage girls through expressive art group work, retreats and psychotherapy services. It's a Girl Thing! has two locations in the Hudson Valley and an eclectic team of clinicians who are committed to helping teens find their voice and aspire to meet their highest potential. Over the past 20 years Amy has developed a dynamic, creative and unique practice that serves youth and families in the Hudson Valley, New York. She is a Certified Trainer of the Gurian Institute which provides educators with brain-based, research-driven strategies to improve academic success and social emotional learning for students. Additionally, Amy is honored to serve on the Board of Directors for Girls on the Run, an international empowerment program for young girls, grades 3-5 & 6-8. Amy received her MSW from Fordham University and began her career working with terminally ill patients at Hudson Valley Hospice and assisted in the development of the bereavement program for children and adults. She then received her School Social Work Certification during her collaborative work in the Kingston City School District and Ulster County Dept. of Mental Health and has served as a consultant to the YMCA, various local school districts, and Odyssey Teen Camp (https://www.odysseyteencamp.com) Despite her clinical experience, education, post-graduate training, and remarkable mentors along the way, Amy holds the conviction that her own two teenagers will forever be her most powerful teachers.
