Amy believes that counseling should be a welcoming and inclusive space for all people. Her fundamental belief is that we all deserve to be seen and heard in our journey through life. Amy feels best when she can create a space for clients to be themselves and live their life authentically. She prefers a more unstructured and natural style of therapy where she lets her client’s experiences guide the direction of therapy. Amy enjoys using tools such as media (TV shows, movies, books, music, and writing) to explore the inner world of her client’s lives, but most of all she enjoys meeting each client where they are at in their journey. Amy uses authenticity, humor, and the therapeutic relationship to create a space where you get to be authentically you. She works primarily with adult individuals living with trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, and ADHD. She specializes in working with folx in the LGBTQ+ community by offering inclusive, educated, and affirmative care. She has a special interest in working with clients who are new to therapy or have had previous experience in therapy that left them looking for a new space to be themselves. After our universal experience of a global pandemic, Amy envisioned how therapy could transform to better meet the needs of the client in an ever-changing and unpredictable world. Amy experienced firsthand the ground-shifting impact therapy can continue to have virtually. She decided to shift to a fully telehealth care structure to expand her reach to clients far and wide. She also noticed that when clients get the opportunity to do therapy from a space of their choice, it opens up a deeper feeling of comfort and connection while also eliminating the power dynamic that often exists in healthcare settings. As an added bonus, this also means zero stress over driving to an office, where to park, taking time out of your work day, or needing to cancel sessions when you’re traveling. Amy’s goal is to become a Board Certified TeleMental Health provider within the next year.
