My specialty is treating trauma and PTSD. I am the author of several articles about trauma and I've worked as clinical support personnel in psychology graduate programs. My published work and media are listed on my website, www.nausstherapy.com. I see patients virtually in the states: CO, CA, and AK. I work best with clients who are motivated to recover from specific symptoms disrupting their lives. My style is structured and involves homework assignments and following a protocol for sessions. If the kind of support you are looking for is someone to talk to regularly and process your journey, I am not the right therapist for that. Although I am an LMFT I am not a parent, so if you are looking for parenting support I am not the right fit. Things I work well with: trauma, social anxiety, panic disorder, sleep disruption, physical symptoms not caused by medical conditions(non-epileptic seizures, stomachaches, headaches), persistent anxiety, depression, shame, and guilt. Please note, if you are experiencing a body symptom I will require you to rule out a medical condition by visiting a doctor first. Please note: If my scheduling feature is "not working" or showing no available appointments it means I have no availability. I have no waiting list for new clients and you should reach out to other therapists. I cannot respond to new client inquiries left in my voicemail. I typically require all new clients to do a consultation before a first session. Insurance: You must call and verify that I am in-network with your insurance. Insurance often lists me as in-network for plans that I am not actually in-network for. I am not in-network for Kaiser California plans, for example. I am not in-network with Anthem. I am not in-network with Blue cross or BCBS. Searching in your insurance app is not reliable. Checking your insurance website is also not reliable. You must call your company and record the date/ time of verification that I am in-network as well as the representative you spoke to. If I am later deemed "out of network" you are responsible for the full cost of session. If you record the information of your phone call confirming I am in-network your insurance company will still deny your claims but this information will help you escalate an appeal.
