As your counselor/therapist, I strive to create a positive environment of openness and mutual respect in therapy. It is my hope that you will feel safe and comfortable as we work together to achieve your therapeutic goals. I view the counseling process as a collaborative relationship between the therapist and client. I believe my clients are experts in their own lives. My general aim as a therapist is to help clients find lasting solutions to their problems, respecting the agency of power of each individual in finding his or her own path. I believe that we sometimes underestimate the power that is within us to improve our own reality through changing the way we process the events of life’s journey. I specialize in grief, trauma, and crisis, and enjoys working with children, adolescents, teens, adults, and families/couples. I am passionate about helping those who are struggling with trauma/PTSD, crisis, grief and loss, life transitions, LGBTQ+ and sexual/gender orientation issues, spirituality conflict or just struggling with life’s curveballs in general. I treat a variety of issues including relationship concerns, depression, mood and anxiety disorders, spirituality and cultural identity issues, grief and loss, and trauma, to name a few. My therapeutic approach is client-centered; I believe that people tend to move toward growth and healing and have the capacity to find their own answers. I practice from an integrative approach based on the individual’s personality, background, and preferences/needs. I incorporate a variety of styles/theories including CBT, DBT, ACT, EMDR, Mindfulness/relaxation, and play/art therapy techniques. I have specialized training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), Trust Based Parenting, Gottman Method, Moral Reconation Therapy – MRT® and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM). I am Licensed as a Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Idaho and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Oregon. I graduated with my Master of Science in Counseling: Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) from Northwest Nazarene University in 2014. I received my bachelor’s degree in Social and Behavior Science from George Fox University in 2010. General coursework included clinical counseling theories/foundations, assessment, diagnosis and treatment of psychopathology, and ethical practices of psychotherapy, working with couples, families, adults, children, and groups. Additional coursework included research and statistics, measurement and assessment, human growth and life span development, multicultural and societal issues, professional/career development, psychopharmacology, grief, trauma, crisis, and addictions. I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, including management/clinical director, counseling, addictions treatment, Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACT) and as a mental health Designated Examiner for the State of Idaho. Prior to receiving my master’s degree and LCPC license, I worked as a PSR/CBRS worker, mental health case manager and substance use treatment Case Manager.
