Hello, my name is Angela Torres. I believe that counseling can serve as a therapeutic outlet to provide the tools needed to embrace life’s challenges. My goal as a therapist is to empower clients and to provide a space to foster hope, healing, and resilience. I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in social work from Texas State University. In my experience as a medical social worker, I have worked in nursing facilities, medical rehabilitation centers, hospice, and in a dementia/neurodegenerative specialty clinic. My clinical background includes working with individuals and families experiencing challenges related to medical complications, life transitions, anticipatory loss, grief, caregiver stress, and end of life decision making. My passion as a social worker is to help adults and families navigate healthcare barriers and process the adjustment to life changes after a complex, critical, or terminal illness. Through strengths-based and culturally sensitive approaches, I work collaboratively with each client to define goals for their therapeutic experience. I integrate various treatment modalities such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused techniques with the goal of empowering clients to identify strengths to their own resiliency.
