People with OCRDs (obsessive-compulsive disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, body-focused repetitive behaviors, illness anxiety), misophonia (sound sensitivity), and anxiety (generalized, social, panic) usually try to fix their symptoms on their own for months to years before turning to a professional. At this point, your symptoms might even be getting in the way of the things that are most important to you in life. Let's change that. In treatment, we will draw from a small set of evidence-based therapies (CBT, ERP, and ComB; acronyms spelled out at the bottom of the page). Here is what these approaches have in common: first, we set goals about where you would like to wind up. Then, we gather information about any compulsions or unhelpful behaviors you are currently engaging in. We identify situations in which you can practice new, more helpful behaviors and resist any urges to use the old ones. We start with easy situations and work up to challenging ones. Once you feel confident you can maintain your new behaviors on your own, we either wrap up or set new goals, according to your preference. If your goals would be better addressed by working with a different specialist, I will let you know and help you find someone. Before scheduling a call, check to make sure my policies work for you, as they apply to 100% of incoming clients: I work with adults (18+, no exceptions) located in California, New York, or Florida, clients have one 50-minute appointment per week (more-frequent sessions are sometimes available; every-two-weeks/monthly sessions are not), appointments take place between 9am and 4pm Pacific Time on weekdays, appointments are exclusively by video, I do not take insurance (I do provide superbills), and sessions are $290/hour.
