I'm Ashley Cocchi, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing in the state of Connecticut. I received my Masters degree is in Art Therapy and Counseling from The College of New Rochelle and my Bachelors is in Fine Arts from Lesley University in Cambridge. During a session with me, I use a strength based approach. This means that I focus my energy and time on the value that you currently present to the universe and what you are capable to doing. If your goal is to create change, my hope is to support you while presenting direction to develop new frameworks and ways of accepting reality. I strive to create a place of safety, nurturance and non-judgment. You might be thinking, "what is Art therapy?" It can be incredibly powerful to utilize the act of art-making instead of talking, so this is a speciality that I enjoy trying with patients. I will present a directive to the client, and provide the materials. I will also provide support and guidance if needed during the art-making process. Other tools I utilize are DBT, CBT and Family Based Treatment.
