Life can be tough, am I right? Sometimes we get to such a dark place that we don’t recognize ourselves. Man, I have been there and it hurts. You feel frustrated, hopeless, and alone. I come from the perspective that through life’s challenges (bad relationships, grief, trauma, or low self-esteem), we start to use unhealthy coping mechanisms such as drinking too much, isolating ourselves, or negative self-talk. I specialize in providing support and guidance to those individuals who are struggling with substance use and addictions or those who are simply questioning their relationship with alcohol or drugs. Maybe you are in recovery but despite your great effort of attending meetings, getting a sponsor, and working the steps, those overwhelming feelings of worthlessness, fear, and anxiety continue to persist. Although my specialty is working with addictions, I also have a passion for working with clients presenting with other concerns such as anxiety, depression, and spiritual/faith concerns. As a Christian counselor, I view spiritual integration as a crucial aspect of the therapeutic journey, especially for those in recovery. I do, however, honor each individual’s spiritual beliefs. I ensure that the integration of spirituality in the therapy process aligns with the comfort level of each client and I will never push my beliefs onto you. I use humor and a relaxed approach that allows you to have a space where you can simply, be you. I believe through a therapeutic and safe relationship, you will have the ability to work through past and current struggles so that you will be able to once again shine as your true and authentic self.
