I help women who feel insecure, reactive, overwhelmed, and confused become audacious and true with themselves and others. I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Michigan University and am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Michigan. I have completed post-graduate training as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and am currently engaged in Complex Trauma Certification Training which will qualify me as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional Level II (CCTP-II). My primary theoretical orientation to therapy is person-centered. I also draw heavily from cognitive, Adlerian, attachment-based, and narrative approaches. “Trauma-informed” means that, no matter what therapeutic perspectives and interventions I employ, I remain aware that the root causes of current struggles frequently lie in painful experiences from our pasts. These modalities bring together my core beliefs as a counselor: that you are the expert on your own life; your unconscious beliefs and automatic thoughts heavily influence your emotional state; you have the power and choice to rewrite your life story; and that true freedom comes from letting go of the things you cannot control.
