Barbara (she, her) is a licensed clinical social worker who practices strength focused, individualized care. Her style is warm, relational and direct. Barbara enjoys working with adults of all ages, in different stages of life. Her areas of focus are grief and loss, depression and anxiety, trauma, relationship issues. She uses different approaches in therapy, from CBT and DBT to mindfulness and self-compassion. She has worked in a variety of settings with different mental health professionals and with people at varying times of need. Barbara graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Master of Science in Social Work. She did her masters level internship at Austin State Hospital treating patients experiencing severe mental health crises. She then worked in an inpatient setting with a team of psychiatric providers. Barbara also has experience with patients in an outpatient setting, providing intensive outpatient group therapy and providing longer term individual therapy. Barbara is a life-long Texan who has lived in the Austin area for 20 years. She enjoys gardening, reading and cooking. She loves spending time in nature while camping, bicycling and hiking. She is also an enthusiastic traveler.
