Introduction

Hi, I'm Beth Cooney, LCSW. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Board-Approved Clinical Supervisor, and experienced therapist passionate about helping clients of all ages live happier, more fulfilling lives. Whether you’re seeking support for yourself or your child, taking the first step toward therapy can be a life-changing decision — and I'm here to walk alongside you. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief and loss, trauma, adjustment struggles, and major life transitions. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or emotionally exhausted. Together, we build practical skills to manage stress, calm intense emotions, strengthen confidence, and create positive, lasting change. When working with young children, I use play, books, and creative activities to help them express their feelings and heal in a way that feels natural and safe. I also work closely with parents to help them navigate the stress of supporting their children through challenging times, offering guidance and strategies to strengthen family resilience. I believe that healing happens best in a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment. I strive to create a space where you or your child feel truly seen, heard, and empowered. I offer both in-person sessions in Metairie and flexible telehealth appointments to fit into busy lives. In addition to private practice, I serve part-time as the Director of Evidence-Based Practice for Project Fleur-de-lis, a nationally recognized program of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network. Over the past 15 years, I’ve trained school social workers across the country and provided emotional support in the aftermath of major disasters. I’m deeply committed to using evidence-based, proven strategies to help my clients heal and grow. Helping people feel better, stronger, and more hopeful is not just my work — it’s truly my passion. If you or your loved one are ready to take the next step, I would be honored to support you. I offer a free phone consultation to help us decide if we're the right fit. Please reach out and let's get started!
