Bev Johnson, is the owner and psychotherapist of Bev Johnson, MS LPCC NCC, PLLC. Sometimes talk is not enough. Our bodies hold our lifetime of experiences and are living archives about us. There are ways to access this embodied awareness that bypass the clutter and distraction of our minds and offer more direct and useful insight into our problems. Once connected to this deeper part of us, we may find we feel more grounded in the clarity of our self-awareness, find value in our uniqueness, and enjoy confidence in our ability to offer ourselves the validation we’ve been seeking from others. The choices we are able to make toward change are thereby enhanced. Embodied awareness requires skilled guidance, beginning with establishing a sense of safety - unique to each of us - as well as recognizing the edges that boundary our safety and enable us to know when we are safe. By exploring our edges through curious and candid observation of present moment thoughts, emotions and sensations, we invite discovery of our patterns in those experiences. Whether tensing, holding, resisting, avoiding, letting go, receiving, or enjoying, each pattern may reveal parallels in the ways we respond to edges in everyday life. Being grounded in this deeper self-awareness establishes our inner compass for navigating toward relevant and sustainable change in our lives. I am a master’s level clinical mental health counselor (MS), a Colorado licensed professional counselor candidate (LPCC), a nationally certified counselor (NCC), and a certified trauma professional (CTP). I also practice as an IAYT-certified yoga therapist (C-IAYT) with twelve years of deeply immersed experience studying, guiding, teaching, and mentoring the subtle skills of embodied awareness and of observing its value in therapy. Embodied self-awareness both clarifies the problems we present in psychotherapy and evolves our inherent skills to address them. OFFICE LOCATION: 12157 W.
