I base my work on Mindfulness and the Buddhist teaching that we should approach ourselves and our environment with curiosity instead of judgement, like a "beginners mind." By instilling a beginner's mind mindset we are able to build resiliency and emotional flexibility, which can help develop a more compassionate relationship with yourself. I believe that It is also important to be able to challenge yourself and examine rigid, habitual beliefs or behaviors that have become maladaptive in your daily life. I also believe in the animal and human bond and it's ability to restore and heal. When appropriate, I utilize animal assisted therapy in session to help aid in the healing of complex trauma.
