I have been in the counseling profession since 1999, and in private practice since 2002. I deliver compassionate and professional psychological evaluation and psychotherapy to the people of Holland, Zeeland, Hudsonville, and surrounding areas of West Michigan. I grew up in Zeeland with a father who was a psychotherapist, a mother who was a nurse, and an older sister. I graduated from Calvin College with a BA in Psychology and went on to attend Wheaton College in the Western Suburbs of Chicago, where I earned a MA and PsyD in Clinical Psychology. I have been fully licensed as a psychologist in Michigan since 2003. I offer cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for anxiety, depression, anger, and other issues. This is my clinical foundation, but I also recognize that flexibility is important, so I maintain an eclectic approach–a willingness to adapt to the needs of clients. Regarding couples counseling, I draw heavily on Gottman’s theories and techniques. I consider it an honor and a privilege to be invited into the challenges and celebrations of the lives of my clients and to walk alongside them as they face life’s trials. If you are struggling, and feel like you could benefit from professional and compassionate support and guidance, I would consider it a privilege to work with you to reach your goals. Personally, I draw much of my value and motivation for helping from my faith, my family, and my friends. I enjoy spending time with God, my wife and kids, and my friends, often in the woods or on the water.
