Brian Hilburn M.S., LPC, NCC, EMDR, Telehealth Brian is a national board certified, Licensed Professional Counselor. He is trained in EMDR for trauma and PTSD. Brian has received Gottman Method Training from the acclaimed Gottman Institute, in researched based interventions to help couples navigate conflicts and develop skills that enhance Intimacy and build strong, healthy relationships. In addition to his level two training, he has advanced Gottman training in treating affairs, trauma and addiction. Although he has called the Jackson area, “home” since coming to attend Mississippi College in 1992, Brian grew up in the Mississippi Delta. The oldest of three, he has fond memories of his small town roots. Before starting private practice at Stillwaters, he was on staff at Turning Point for two years. Previously, he spent over two decades in a successful career working in film, television, media and marketing. Following several years of his own recovery journey, Brian felt a calling to return to school to become a professional counselor. He attended Mississippi College where he received his Master of Science in Psychology & Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. Brian takes a client-centered approach to therapy and declares his office to be a SHAME FREE ZONE! He understands, much like in his own story, that shame often plays a big role in our stories. To help mitigate shame, he brings his unique style of empathy and compassion, from a place of humility and vulnerability that makes clients feel safe and trusting. As a seven on the Enneagram, he shares his enthusiasm for life through encouragement, and he loves to interject humor into sessions, when appropriate. He’s a fan of the enneagram and frequently includes relational insights in sessions. Brian is very involved in growing and helping equip the men’s community in the area through recovery groups and coaching retreats. He is very involved with the worship ministry at his church, helping with media and production. Away from work and men’s groups, you’ll likely find him spending time with his family in his favorite role, as uncle, to his two nieces and a nephew.
