The Open Easel, PLLC was named after an easel gifted by a master painter. On their honeymoon a young couple stumbled into a high-end art gallery, where the painter/owner was spending his day. He was warm and kind, and invited the young couple on a personalized tour of the gallery. The master painter spent a few moments sharing stories of commissioned works for presidents, royalty, and celebrities, but spent several hours sharing stories of his loved ones and cherished memories. The master explained his use of color, his muses, and his life story. As he ended his tour he offered the couple anything in his gallery at the cost of the materials he used. Overwhelmed, the couple explored the gallery once more. They came back to the artist and asked if they could purchase one of his easels. Confused, the master asked what they wanted with a messy easel. The couple explained they were mesmerized by the splattered and stained easel, knowing many masterpieces had passed over it. For the newly married couple, that easel was a foundation for great works of art. That is the foundation of this practice - honoring the person behind the story, and waiting expectantly for the Master to create a beautiful work of art. "For we are God's masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life." - Ephesians 2:10
