Welcome to Candace Dickinson Counseling Services. You may have found your way here from a Google search or clicking on my Psychology Today profile. Wanting assistance in sorting through your feelings on your life experiences is perfectly natural, and I would like to help. Mental health is important, but you may be unsure of the process of meeting with someone or you may dismiss your feelings as being “too small.” However, the feelings, stress, and anxiety are now interrupting your daily life more than you would desire. You have already done such hard work in finding someone to work with, and I hope that I can be here for you throughout all of the trials that you have faced. Upon meeting me, you will notice that I take great care in getting to know who you are and want to be, and how your life is impacted by what you have experienced. You will be met with someone who genuinely cares, and wants to see you succeed in your healing journey, whether it’s a few weeks, or a few years. With my guidance you will learn and expand on skills you already have that help regulate your emotions. You will be able to identify and process unhelpful thoughts, and learn how to speak to yourself with compassion, and grace. Often you will find yourself leaving sessions with more questions than answers, this will enable you to explore ways to become the best version of yourself for your own benefit as well as that of your friends and your chosen family. One of the reasons I chose to build my own practice was to specialize with those clients who experience complex trauma, and high functioning depression, without the restraints of an organization, or expectations to produce revenue goals. Throughout my career I’ve seen the impact on people’s lives, and have a passion for working with them. I am independently licensed in Massachusetts as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and treat it with the compassion that it deserves. I have always set myself to high standards including pursuing my education through Boston University School of Medicine, and seeking specific training, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as well as traditional trauma informed care. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation through eye movements to assist you in reprocessing past events that are currently impacting your life. Many clients have benefitted from this therapy which is often combined with other proven techniques. I love trying new foods, and especially love supporting small local businesses. I’m always doing something new, and my interests continue to grow. If you’ve read this and realized that you are interested in meeting me, please contact me today. Lets talk for 15 minutes to see if I’m the right fit for where you are and your current needs. My goal is to give you the best treatment I can, and to focus on you getting back to the person you want to be.
