Aloha Kāua I am clinical psychologist in Honolulu Hawai’i. I was born and raised on the island of Oahu in Kāneʻohe. I began my work in 1996 with the Sex Abuse Treatment Center and continued with several community agencies before beginning my private practice in 2008. My introduction to EMDR began while working with interfamilial sexual abuse. I was formally trained with Shapiro’s EMDR model in 2014 and began using EMDR as my primary treatment modality. I was Certified through EMDR international association in 2018 and received additional training through EMDR Consulting as an integrative approach to EMDR in the clinical setting at that time. I am currently supporting others in their desire to learn and grow in EMDR as a Coach In Training (CIT) and providing consultation. I have worked extensively in the area of sexual abuse and domestic violence, adults molested as children, addiction/ alcoholism, transitions from incarceration, family members affected by the disease of addiction/alcoholism in addition to other clinical populations. I am of mixed ethnicity and have a deep respect for my Hawaiian culture. I believe that every individual has the potential for wholeness and I utilize a cultural approach familiar to those with Hawaiian/Kanaka Maoli back ground. I am honored to be a part of your journey.
