I had to take a 2 year medical leave of absence from USC due to worsening chronic illness, and was able to come back and finish my degree while having a feeding tube. Due to the fact that I am chronically ill, I also must cancel last minute at times due to persistent medical symptoms. It is important that as a client of a chronically ill therapist you are okay with these cancellations and do not take them personally. If you recognize this may cause attachment issues for you, or you are the type of person who is very timely, please consider this when you choose to move forward with me as your therapist. I use multiple gold standard measures for tracking progress and will involve you in every step of the process. I typically integrate different therapeutic techniques into our work together and will always ask you if you are open to new evidence based techniques as they come up in treatment. The therapeutic bond is a healing space that is COMPLETELY SAFE. That means, you can do close to no wrong in our relationship. This is a space that you are held with unconditional positive regard and should not be afraid to share things that you feel you may have done “wrong” that week, or avoid sharing something you weren’t able to accomplish. I want you to feel that you can tell me to “f-off” and find that sometimes the best work comes when you are faced with things that make you uncomfortable. No matter what, I am here to be a support; Not to tell you what to do. Therefore, I will never judge you based on your decisions - you know what is best for you!
