CLIENT-CENTERED MENTAL HEALTH THERAPY Carol offers mental health therapy services to individuals in the Cedar Rapids and surrounding areas communities. Carol specializes in working with individuals living with chronic pain. She believes to better advocate for and assist these individuals, the medical and psychological disciplines must work together more efficiently and purposefully. Carol also clinically treats a variety of individuals with a variety of mental health concerns. These include trauma, life stressors, mood disorders, anxiety, and depression. She takes a holistic, mind-body approach to working with clients and uses a humanistic foundation infused with Reality Therapy/Choice Theory, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Existentialism to build self-awareness and self-evaluation. Carol's personal statement: I believe that individuals have the answers within themselves to produce desired change and are the experts on their own life. My job is to help facilitate discovery of those answers and aid in navigation of life's stressors and obstacles. I believe self-awareness is the change agent necessary for personal growth. My counseling style reflects this belief. I have a narrative counseling style and use more traditional talk therapy methods. With a humanistic core, I pull pieces from other theories and work with individuals where they are at currently to navigate life's stressors or distress. Reaching out to a counselor is a brave choice. I know the importance of building trust with another person, for what is potentially one's deepest thoughts and struggles, is difficult and intimidating. I will always present genuine authenticity in sessions and strive to help clients on their personal growth through counseling journey.
