Carrie provides therapy through a strengths-based, trauma-focused lens, and views each person as a resilient individual system capable of developing agency of their lived story and gaining mastery of their whole self. She has over 20 years of direct-client mental health care experiences working with individuals and families living with challenges complicated by serious and persistent mental illness, emotional and behavioral disorders, trauma and family violence. She has spent the last 12 years working directly with individuals who use abuse and violence in their relationships, and with the community systems in which they are involved. She has been an integral part of the evolution, development and training of trauma-sensitive, culturally informed, programs for men and court-involved families. Coaching and Parenting Consulting was added to her practice last year, and she has been providing these services to court-involved families also impacted by high conflict, trauma and intimate partner or family violence. Carrie received a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary's University of Minnesota and is a Board Certified Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. She is also a Qualified Neutral for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) under Rule 114 of the Minnesota General Rules of Practice. Her passion for challenging the paradigm of how healing happens and the intersectionality of domestic abuse, trauma and cultural responsiveness has been instrumental in the development of Paradigm Counseling, LLC.
