One of the first steps in therapy is to build a professional relationship to support the therapeutic work. We seek a therapist during challenging times in our lives, and/or we are searching for support when our relationships are in distress. To begin, I feel it is essential to find the right match. I find an integral part of the work is making sure that I am offering a service to my clients that meets their needs. This means I check-in with my clients to make sure that we are constantly working toward your goals. I am an independently licensed clinical social worker [LCSW], and I have worked in the mental health field for over 17 years. During this time, I have sought ongoing education in clinical mental health. My training began at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts. There I double majored in Psychology and English. After working in the field, I pursued a master’s degree in Clinical Social Work at Simmons College Graduate School of Social Work in Boston, Massachusetts. I studied clinical psychotherapy, including couples counseling, family counseling, the impact of trauma, and mental wellness. I have worked and trained in Maine and Massachusetts in various settings, including community counseling agencies, hospital settings, and supervisory roles. My post-graduate training includes extensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy [EFT]. My Externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy was in 2014 under the training of George Faller, certified Trainer/Supervisor/Therapist in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and founder of the New York Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy. I completed the Core Skills with Jill Fischer, LICSW, Certified Trainer/Supervisor/Therapist in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). And am working on completing my international EFT certification. I am an active member within multiple professional communities, the National Association of Social Work, the International Center of Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy, the Maine Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy. I am also active with group and individual supervision to support and improve my practice with my clients.
