She holds experience working in fields of trauma, diverse populations, adults, families, children/adults with chronic illness, substance use, LGBTQIA, dual diagnosis, and within the criminal justice system. Since she began her work in social work she has held positions in crisis, case management, therapy group facilitation, and individual therapy. Her focus has been in Anger Management, Grief Therapy, and Transgender Care. In her more recent work, Ms. St.Thomas provides clinical consults for older adults, and psychoeduacation for caregivers of older adults. Currently, she serves as the President of the Miami-Dade Chapter of Association of Black Social Workers, and as Spokesperson for the Egbe Omo Yansa of New York. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, I have migrated to states such as Georgia, Florida, and recently found home in Houston, Texas. I am no stranger to being in diverse spaces, and it is for the reason I pride myself on bringing an eclectic approach to the therapeutic space. My approach is client-centered. I believe every client is in the driver seat of their on therapy. My goal is to assist my clients in reaching a space where they feel they are living within the best version of themselves. Additionally, my hope is to serve as an anchor for my clients navigate difficult spaces, process trauma, and manage acute or recurring stress. I implore a variety of therapy approaches and modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Approaches, Trauma-Focused Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Within the scope of family therapy I utilize Psycho-Education, Structural Therapy and Systemic Therapy. My educational experience includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work with a focus in the Afro-Centric Perspective from Clark Atlanta University, and a Master’s Degree in Social Work with a focus in Trauma-Informed-Care from Barry University. Currently I hold licensees in Florida, Texas, Virginia, and Washington D.C. Additionally, I am a Qualified Supervisor in the state of Florida. While I am not assisting my clients I enjoy spending time in exercise, spending time with my family, and traveling.
