Cheri is a licensed professional counselor through the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling with a Bachelor's Degree from Bowling Green State University, a Master's Degree from The University of Montevallo, and a Doctorate from The University of Alabama. She has a background in working with people of all ages in the capacity of a teacher, school counselor, director of a federal program in higher education, clinical director of an substance abuse clinic, and in private practice. She has had experience in working with diverse individuals on a wide variety of concerns including addiction, depression, anxiety, relationships, self-esteem, chronic pain, obsessive behavior, grief, and other life challenges. Her style is open, honest, direct, and interactive. Her approach combines acceptance, cognitive restructuring, understanding competing parts of self (IFS), and recognizing schema or patterns of behavior that may be on an unconscious level. Cheri believes in setting collaborative goals with clients to help them with their areas of need, while also empowering them to use their strengths to overcome difficulties.
