My name is Christine Denstaedt and I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I appreciate the courage it takes to seek therapy. My foundational approach to therapy is based on how experiences create beliefs and beliefs influence our choices which can open our lives up to new possibilities. I am passionate about supporting people who are ready to discover how choice can lead to a more fulfilling and meaningful life. My approach My therapeutic style is collaborative and treatment is tailored to the specific needs of each client. As a Gestalt-trained therapist, my work emphasizes an individual's unique experience, a focus on the present, the environment, and the therapeutic relationship. While Gestalt is my specialty, I am also trained in EMDR trauma therapy, cognitive behavioral, grief work, Internal Family Systems, trauma-informed, projective therapies, solution-focused and somatic awareness, and more. My focus I am looking to work with people of all ages who are experiencing the challenges that come with each stage of life and may be feeling defeated. I am comfortable working with many mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma. My communication style Clients are invited to explore areas of their lives within the safety of a virtual environment. Clients can work at their own pace while being encouraged to take safe risks and experiment with new ways of interacting with themselves and others. Clients can expect to be heard, valued, and respected for how they have experienced the world and will be encouraged to explore how the mind, body, and spirit work together to promote growth. My journey to mental healthcare It has been my mental health journey that has led to my career as a therapist. I believe my own personal development supports my work with you. Through the emotional healing process, I discovered my voice which led to me being able to support others from a place of strength. I am passionate about working with people who have either lost their sense of self or who have never gotten to know themselves. My goals for you Common symptoms like depression and anxiety often stem from habitual patterns of relating that may have historical importance, but may no longer be useful to us. I support clients by helping them clarify what changes they are interested in experiencing, then work together, to identify smaller steps that will help them reach their goals. I see goals as a starting place that can be flexible as the journey unfolds. My first session with you Clients can expect to be greeted with a sincere desire to make a connection with someone who cares and is interested in how we can partner together to experience change. True growth happens in an atmosphere of safety and support, and finding humor where possible. I am interested in knowing about your current areas of need as well as what you're wanting to get out of our time together.
