Introduction

The field of social work has always intrigued me, driven by my deep curiosity about the human mind and behavior. I often say this profession 'chose me,' and it’s truly a gift to connect with people from all walks of life—across ages, cultures, abilities, and socioeconomic backgrounds. As a woman of color, I carry a profound appreciation for learning and honoring the stories and lived experiences of those I serve. My name is Christine Watson, and I’m a Trauma-Focused Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Oregon and Texas, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Washington and a Licensed Certified Social Worker Clinical (LCSW-C) in Maryland. I am currently pursuing certification as a Certified Gottman Therapist (CGT) to further enhance my approach to relationship and family therapy. I hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) with a clinical practice focus from Simmons University. In my practice, I take a person-centered approach, tailored to meet the diverse needs of my clients. I integrate multiple therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), the Gottman Method, Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and more. This blend allows me to support clients through a variety of challenges, whether related to trauma, relationships, anxiety, or personal growth. As a Black woman, my lived experiences provide me with a deep understanding of the systemic challenges faced by underrepresented communities. These experiences shape my approach to clinical social work, allowing me to offer empathy, advocacy, and strength-based support with authenticity and insight. I am committed to fostering safe spaces where clients can heal, grow, and reclaim their agency. Beyond my practice, I am actively engaged in driving meaningful social change within my community. My passion for equity and justice fuels my work, as I develop and facilitate programs that address the unique needs of those facing adversity. By fostering collaboration, building strong partnerships, and advocating for systemic change, I aim to create opportunities for healing, growth, and empowerment—particularly for marginalized groups, including youth, women, and families. Self-care is essential to sustaining my purpose and passion. Traveling to new places allows me to gain fresh perspectives and deepen my understanding of diverse cultures. Staying physically active helps me maintain a healthy mind-body balance, which is vital to my overall well-being. I also cherish time spent with loved ones, including my dog, Bella, whose boundless joy and companionship bring warmth and comfort to my life. Every day, I am moved by the resilience and courage of the human spirit. It is a profound honor to walk alongside my clients as they embark on their journeys of healing, self-discovery, and fulfillment. I would be honored to walk alongside you as well, providing support, guidance, and a safe space as you navigate your own path toward healing and growth.
