My name is Clifford Henry, but please call me Chepo. My pronouns are they/them. I am a second-generation Latin X and Black bi-racial individual. I currently reside on the unceded land of the Cowlitz people here in Portland, OR. I am a first-generation college and master's graduate. As a therapist I work from a gentle and trauma informed approach but don’t shy away from being straightforward when needed. I offer empathy but will also gently challenge you to grow. Humor is always welcome in our sessions—it’s great for breaking the ice, connecting us, and sometimes giving us a new way to look at things. My therapeutic approach is rooted in honoring your lived experience and innate wisdom that comes from your lived experiences. I believe you are the expert of your lived experience and I will meet you where you are. I draw upon and bring together tools from: Liberation Psychology that focuses on understanding and addressing the social, cultural, and political factors that contribute to oppression, and aim to empower marginalized communities by promoting social justice and collective well-being. Gestalt Therapy a holistic, experiential form of psychotherapy that emphasizes personal responsibility, self-awareness, and the present moment, focusing on the individual's experience in the here and now. Internal Family Systems a therapeutic approach that helps individuals understand and harmonize the different parts of their psyche, promoting healing through the connection with their core Self. Gottman Couples Therapy an evidence-based approach that focuses on strengthening relationships by improving communication, building trust, and resolving conflict through research-backed principles and techniques. Somatic Embodiment Therapy a therapeutic approach that focuses on the connection between the mind and body, helping individuals heal by exploring and processing emotions and trauma through bodily awareness and physical experiences. At the core, my approach is rooted in working relationally with my clients. From the very first session, my goal is to foster hope and nurture trust. Together my clients and I set clear goals to guide us in our work together towards genuine transformation, personal growth, self-acceptance and healing. Clients I work with… I work with individual adults and couples looking for balance in their lives. I specialize in relationship issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, and identity exploration. I am honored to work with individuals of any gender expression, sexual orientation, relationship model, race, culture, religion, age, size and disability. Your story matters, and I’m here to walk with you every step of the way. If you are ready to begin your journey of discovery and healing, please contact me for a 15 minute consultation.
