I would describe myself as a compassionate and sincere counselor who brings warmth, curiosity, and unconditional acceptance into each session. I am most passionate about providing a safe space for my clients to express themselves and their uniqueness without fear of judgement. During my time as a third-grade teacher, I realized how much pressure is put on children to meet other’s standards and expectations. While many children were able to do this, there were always those who could not. I never understood why children were expected to meet standards set by a “one size fit all” mentality. This is why I am the passionate counselor I am today. I am here to help children and family’s overcome shame and frustration by finding strength in our differences and embracing what can be rather than what is not. My approach to counseling: I thrive when working with children, adolescents, and families who are interested in making positive changes in their lives. When difficulties arise in a child’s life, their developmental level makes them more likely to utilize unhelpful coping skills and thought processes that can be carried into adulthood. In order to change this narrative, the child must be taught how to understand and express their needs, thoughts, and emotions in productive ways. As a counselor who specializes in play therapy, I have learned how to communicate and teach these skills through play- a child’s first language. Through the use of this therapeutic play, I am given a glimpse into the child’s world and can facilitate change through authentic vulnerability and connection. The child feeling unconditionally accepted and understood allows them to experiment with alternative behaviors and thought processes which better serve themselves and their environment. My hope is that children will leave therapy with a firm foundation which positively influences their psychological and behavioral development into adulthood. My Experience: I am a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor and have experience working with children, adolescents, teens, families, and groups. As a graduate student, I completed my internship hours in school, clinic, and private practice settings. I feel most confident working with clients struggling with ADHD, anxiety, grief, divorce, and behavioral concerns. My credentials: I received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2019 and a Master of Science in Counseling in 2022 from the CACREP accredited program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I am a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor licensed through the state of Louisiana. Services: Child Therapy, Filial Therapy, Group Therapy, Telehealth
