Happy couples can make relationships look so easy. But looks can be deceiving. As outsiders looking in, we don't always know the behind the scenes work and struggles. Part of that behind the scenes work is the gaining skills and tools to create healthier and more resilient relationships. Couples therapy can help you get there by deepening connections, increasing understanding, improving communication, and conflict resolution. My specialty is working with couples who come from different ethnic, cultural, and racial backgrounds. Couples counseling as I practice it is not usually covered by insurance and is billed as self-pay. I also help individual clients deal with daily stressors, relationship difficulties, career challenges, cultural/ racial identity issues, and major life transitions. My work with individuals focuses on the management of anxiety, stress, and low self-worth as well as addressing self-sabotaging behaviors such as procrastination and perfectionism. My style as a therapist is supportive, affirming, and nurturing. I believe in a whole person philosophy to counseling and not reducing clients to a diagnosis. I utilize a multicultural approach, taking into consideration a client's sociocultural identity. I am a practitioner of Gottman Couples Therapy and Brainspotting, a brain-body therapy for trauma.
