Damian Juarez, LCDC-I is a master's-level counseling intern and attends the University of North Texas at Dallas, where he is pursuing a Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree. Damian received his Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Texas A&M University at Commerce. As an LCDC-I (Licensed Chemical Dependency Counseling Intern), he uses his clinical approach and training to work with individuals suffering from alcohol and substance use issues. Damian also enjoys working with teens and adults. Damian uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, and mindfulness techniques to address anxiety, depression, adjustment concerns, behavioral challenges, and addiction. Damian offers counseling to teens and adults that focuses on identifying and changing negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that interfere with their ability to enjoy their daily lives. Over the past four years in the mental health field, Damian has worked in intensive services at a community level. He has focused on working with youth, adolescents, and teens who are at risk of expulsion from school or incarceration. Damian has helped these individuals develop behavioral and cognitive skills tailored to their needs. Damian utilized curriculum and lesson plans to enhance the client's chances of success in individual and group settings. In addition, Damian has assisted adults with persistent mental health challenges in reintegrating into society after inpatient treatment or incarceration. Using a trauma-informed approach, Damian helps individuals overcome traumatic events and addiction. In his free time, Damian enjoys playing hockey and exploring new foods around town.
