Introduction

Therapy is about telling the truth, healing old wounds, and making changes. One change I’ve made is a midlife career transition from philosophy professor to mental health counselor. My former profession influences both how I do therapy and the kinds of clients who find me. Like some of my best students, most of my clients are too smart and sensitive for their own good.
