At Open Connections Counseling, I start with focusing on connection by listening and understanding your concerns and perspective. I believe that developing a good relationship to build trust is the starting point of any process that will result in healing and meaningful change. I see each client as unique and utilize my 30 years of experience to match my client's needs to the most beneficial therapeutic intervention-- it's all about connections. One model does not fit all. My focus is working with adults (18+) who have anxiety, mood disorders, neurodiversity (ADHD, Autism), relationship issues, co-parenting issues, family of origin issues and trauma. I also have a particular interest in midlife and older adults facing life transitions that are associated with this age range. I also appreciate the challenges of expatriates and transplants to MN. I am one. Previous clients have described me as caring, thoughtful and focused on developing a safe space where they can be vulnerable without feeling judged. My clients appreciate my sense of humor and sharing of my own experiences and ability to connect as fellow humans. I believe my role is much more than just nodding my head and providing validation. I believe in creating meaningful change and working towards improving your health and wellness. To achieve this, we need to engage in a meaningful relationship and gently reflect, challenge and move towards creating change in behaviors, thoughts and emotions. I have had numerous experiences to connect with a variety of individuals of many differing backgrounds. These experiences helped to develop my mindset to be open-minded and welcoming to different perspectives and beliefs. You can talk to me about anything! I provide counseling to individuals, couples and adult families. My work draws on: -Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) -Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) -Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) -Family Systems Therapy, -Motivational Interviewing (MI) -Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) -CBT- I (insomnia) -Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) I invite you to schedule a free 20 minute consultation to discuss your thoughts and goals for therapy and whether my style and approach will work for you. I accept private pay and most insurance*. I am currently available for both virtual and in-person and virtual appointments.
