Often my clients have an undesirable way of being that they can't seem to stop repeating. They continually engage in a behavior or dynamic, even though they don't want to. I use a combination of approaches that are designed to help clients understand the ways they relate to other people and how that may be getting in the way of their goals. I work well with clients that are interested in changing these patterns and/or bettering their relationships. I often recommend EMDR as a compliment to therapy to help a client's change along the way, although it isn't a requirement of treatment. I am certified in EMDR and have taken several trainings on advanced protocols to help clients re-process problematic memories and dynamics. Much of the additional literature which I keep up with pertains to issues regarding addiction (substances, technology, sex, and other process addictions), trauma, and dissociation. It's unlikely that someone is seeking treatment when their life is at it's best. I'd like to help. My work encourages me to understand the world through the minds of my clients, often times using humor to help us understand each other. My history working with addictions, combined with life experiences, help me achieve this goal.
