Introduction

Welcome! My name is Deborah Walach and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas, an LCPC in Maine, an LMHC in New York, and a USMC Veteran. My journey to becoming a counselor started with a desire to be of service to my community. I had served 8 years in the Marine Corps, stayed home with children until they were of school age, and transitioned to work in the cell phone industry. I was also active in 12 step programs since the age of 21 and was told by my peers that I was good at helping people work through problems. I started as a substance abuse counselor intern, obtained my BA while stationed in NC, and went on to get my MA in Mental Health Counseling after my husband retired from service and we moved to Texas. I have worked in residential drug and alcohol treatment centers, as well as inpatient and outpatient psychiatric hospitals, and private practice. I enjoy being of service to my sisters and brothers who have struggled as a result of traumas in their lives, and also with substance abuse. My job as your therapist is to help you regain control of painful memories, feelings, and help you get unstuck and back on track. My approach tends to be supportive and direct, but never judgmental. I believe that everyone is capable of healing and learning new coping skills to take back control in their lives. I would love to work with you!
